“The contact owns a 2007 Cadillac Escalade. The contact stated that upon approaching the parked vehicle, he discovered that all the air bags had deployed without impact. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic for a diagnostic test; however, the mechanic was unable to determine the cause of the air bag deployment. The contact then discovered that the vehicle was included in NHTSA Campaign Number: 21V050000 (Air Bags). The dealer nor the manufacturer was notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. “The contact owns a 2007 Cadillac Escalade. The contact stated that after plugging the electric air pump into the cigarette lighter socket, smoke was suddenly present coming from the lighter socket and the engine compartment. After opening the engine hood a small flame, smoke, and burning was present coming from the dashboard wire harness. The contact was able to extinguish the flame. The fire department was called to the home but did not visit after the flame was extinguished. The cause of the failure was not yet determined. The manufacturer and local dealer were notified of the failure but no assistance was offered. The failure mileage was 180,000.”Owner report · Electrical System · Nov 2023
“-Traction Control/Stabilitrak light comes on and the major thing is the Camshaft and bearings that cause the LOW OIL PRESSURE SHUT OFF ENGINE WARNING LIGHT.. - When Low oil pressure shuts off the engine light comes on it will cause your vehicle to stall and shut off wherever you at.. -Independent service center - No just the independent service center worker - Yes! “Loss of all electical power to vehicle as though battery failure. Dashboard goes out at times and I am unable to see how fast I am going or if the car is even in drive. Service Stabilitrack light comes on, but goes away. While driving my car door locks. They would lock, unlock. DVD/Nav and Radio shuts off.Air bag light comes on. Driver seat was not working , took it to a mechanic and it read bad motor for seat. About a week ago, the seat started to work again, which worried me. Our mechanic was also worried because he believes it's an electrical problems which may be very dangerous on the road. “The contact owns a 2007 Cadillac Escalade. The contact stated while driving at 15 MPH, smoke coming from the interior of the dashboard. The contact pulled the vehicle over to the side of the road and disconnected the battery from the vehicle and opened the dashboard and saw wiring in the harness of the dashboard melting. The contact put water on the dashboard to stop the smoke. The contact had someone help push their vehicle to their residence. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. GM IS RECALLING CERTAIN MODEL YEAR 2006-2009 BUICK, LUCERNE; CADILLAC DTS; HUMMER H2; MODEL YEAR 2008-2009 BUICK ENCLAVE; CADILLAC CTS; MODEL YEAR 2007-2009 CADILLAC ESCALADE, ESCALADE ESV, ESCALADE EXT; CHEVROLET AVALANCHE, SILVERADO, SUBURBAN, TAHOE; GMC ACADIA, SIERRA, YUKON, YUKON XL; SATURN OUTLOOK; AND MODEL YEAR 2009 CHEVROLET TRAVERSE VEHICLES EQUIPPED WITH A HEATED WASHER FLUID SYSTEM (HWFS). A RECALL WAS IMPLEMENTED IN 2008 TO ADD A FUSE TO THE CONTROL CIRCUIT HARNESS TO ADDRESS THE POTENTIAL CONSEQUENCES OF A PRINTED CIRCUIT BOARD (PCB) ELECTRICAL SHORT. HOWEVER, THERE HAVE BEEN NEW REPORTS OF THERMAL INCIDENTS ON HWFS MODULES AFTER THIS IMPROVEMENT WAS INSTALLED. THESE INCIDENTS RESULTED FROM A NEW FAILURE MODE ATTRIBUTED TO THE DEVICE'S THERMAL PROTECTION FEATURE. THE SIGNIFICANCE VARIES FROM MINOR DISTORTION TO CONSIDERABLE MELTING OF THE PLASTIC AROUND THE HWFS FLUID CHAMBER.
Remedy: DEALERS WILL PERMANENTLY DISABLE AND REMOVE THE HEATED WASHER FLUID MODULE. AN UPDATED PAGE FOR THE OWNER MANUAL WILL BE PROVIDED AND INSERTED IN THE OWNER MANUAL TO DOCUMENT THAT THE FEATURE HAS BEEN PERMANENTLY DISABLED AND REMOVED FROM THE VEHICLE. Additionally, GM is recalling certain 2007-2008 Cadillac Escalade, Escalade ESV, Escalade EXT, Chevrolet Avalanche, Silverado 1500, Suburban, Tahoe, GMC Sierra 1500, Yukon, Yukon XL vehicles originally sold, or ever registered, in the states of Arizona, Arkansas, Delaware, District of Columbia, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Maryland, Missouri, Nebraska, Nevada, New Jersey, New Mexico, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Virginia, and West Virginia or "Zone B." Remedy: GM will notify owners, and dealers will replace the front passenger air bag inflator with an alternate one, free of charge. Interim letters notifying owners of the safety risk were mailed on February 22, 2021. Second notification letters will be mailed once the remedy is available. Owner notification letters were mailed on March 1, 2021.
