“Tl* the contact owns a 2004 bmw x5. While driving 55 mph on the freeway, the vehicle jerked severely. Suddenly, the engine powered down in the middle of traffic. The contact was able to pull the vehicle over safely onto the shoulder. A message indicating "fail safe" appeared on the instrument panel. The vehicle was towed to the contact's home. The vehicle was later taken to ray catena bmw (543 tarrytown rd, white plains, ny 10607, (914) 761-5555) where it was diagnosed that a new engine and valve pump needed to be installed. “I bought 4 run-flat bridgestone tires from a bmw dealership: dueler h/l 400 [36110427162] on june 21, 2017 with my suv mileage of 169,318. Yesterday, 1/15/2018, I found out my two rear tires were almost bald after driven 10,384 miles due to summer road trip. Several times these past few days I felt the suv was slipping and sliding even thought no ice around. The two rear tires have markings of dot h491 dje0716 and dot h491 dje0216]. “Vehicle started smoking from under the car and air vents while car was in motion air conditioning was running and the owner pulled over and the fire department put out the fire and broke 3 windows unnecessarily in the process. Car ended up being totaled and resides at owners property. “Tl* the contact owned a 2004 bmw x5. While driving 15 mph, the contact's vehicle was struck by another vehicle on the driver's side. The air bags did not deploy. A police report was filed. The contact sustained injuries to the right shoulder, back, and neck, which required medical attention. The vehicle was destroyed and towed. “Tl* the contact owns a 2004 bmw x5. While driving 35 mph, a loud noise came from the front end of the vehicle and it shook violently. The failure occurred without warning. The contact pulled over to the nearest independent mechanic who diagnosed that the power train drive shaft unit needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The independent mechanic contacted the bmw dealer and had the vehicle towed to the dealer. The vehicle was not repaired since the VIN was not included in a recall. There were no injuries; however, the contact felt the heat of the burner coming through the seat. The dealer determined that the seat would need to be replaced. ON CERTAIN SPORT UTILITY VEHICLES, THE BOLTS THAT HOLD THE FRONT DIFFERENTIAL, THE RIGHT OUTPUT SHAFT HOUSING FLANGE AT THE ENGINE, AND THE RIGHT-HAND ENGINE SUPPORT MAY BE INSUFFICIENTLY TIGHTENED.
Remedy: DEALERS WILL INSPECT AND RETIGHTEN THE DRIVETRAIN FASTENERS. OWNER NOTIFICATION BEGAN NOVEMBER 28, 2003. OWNERS SHOULD CONTACT BMW AT 1-800-831-1117.
ON CERTAIN PASSENGER VEHICLES EQUIPPED WITH 8 AND 12 CYLINDER ENGINES, THE DIGITAL ENGINE MANAGEMENT CONTROL (EMC) UNITS WERE NOT PRODUCED ACCORDING TO SPECIFICATIONS.
Remedy: DEALERS WILL INSTALL A NEW DIGITAL ENGINE MANAGEMENT CONTROL UNIT. THE RECALL BEGAN ON JULY 16, 2004. OWNERS SHOULD CONTACT BMW AT 1-800-831-1117.
BMW of North America, LLC (BMW) is recalling certain model year 2000-2003 525i Sedan, 530i Sedan, 540i Sedan, 2001-2003 525i Sports Wagon and 540i Sports Wagon vehicles, and 2000-2004 X5 SAV 3.0i, X5 SAV 4.4i, and X5 SAV 4.6is vehicles. This recall affects certain vehicles where the original steering wheel has been replaced with the optional sports steering wheel. The sports steering wheel has a frontal air bag inflator that may explode due to propellant degradation occurring after long-term exposure to high absolute humidity, temperature and temperature cycling.
Remedy: Owners are advised not to drive their vehicles until the vehicle has been remedied. BMW will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the vehicle for an optional sports steering wheel with an affected inflator. Dealers will replace the air bag module as necessary, free of charge. The recall began March 14, 2019. Owners may contact BMW customer service at 1-800-525-7417.
ON CERTAIN SPORT UTILITY VEHICLES, THE IN-TANK FUEL LINE MAY HAVE BEEN ATTACHED INCORRECTLY.
Remedy: DEALERS WILL INSPECT THE IN-TANK SUCTION JET PUMP FUEL LINE AND IF NECESSARY, REATTACH ACCORDING TO SPECIFICATIONS. THIS RECALL BEGAN SEPTEMBER 9, 2004. OWNERS SHOULD CONTACT BMW AT 1-800-831-1117.
ON CERTAIN PASSENGER VEHICLES WITH 3.0 L ENGINES AND MANUAL TRANSMISSIONS, IF THE VEHICLE IS IN FIRST GEAR, AND MOVING SLOWLY, WITH THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL HELD IN A CONSTANT POSITION OF LOW ENGINE SPEED AND WITH THE CLUTCH PEDAL HELD IN A PARTIALLY DEPRESSED POSITION, ENGINE SPEED MAY INCREASE.
Remedy: DEALERS WILL REPROGRAM THE VEHICLE'S DIGITAL ENGINE MANAGEMENT CONTROL UNIT. THE RECALL BEGAN ON SEPTEMBER 8, 2004. OWNERS SHOULD CONTACT BMW AT 1-800-831-1117.
