With turning on the key, fuel leaked out of the left side of the motorcycle. The leak comes from the fuel line attachment to the fuel pump mount on the left side of the fuel tank. The fuel sprays out of the plastic fuel pump mount when the key is turned on. The plastic connection in the fuel line has cracked. This seems very dangerous. *trOwner report · Fuel/Propulsion System · Aug 2013

After stopping at local gas station to fill up with gas as per normal, noticed gas smell, but could not detect any visible leak. Rode for a short distance, returned home. After stopping engine and dismounting, noticed my left pant-leg was soaked in gasoline. After removing side [left] panel was able to see visible fuel leak (more of a spray). Leak only occurred when fuel pump was operating. Source of leak was the female connector of the fuel line. *trOwner report · Fuel/Propulsion System · Dec 2012
Rear brake disc rotor carrier failed letting the rear rotor fall and lock up the rear wheel and lost all braking control . I replaced the failed part new one was made out of steal old part was made out of aluminun this problem has been reported by quite a few riders . I am still in pocession of old carrier if you need to examine it. *trOwner report · Service Brakes · Aug 2012
The rear wheel assembly/swingarm is described by bmw as "maintenance free," meaning that the oil level in the rear swing-arm cannot be checked or refilled. My motorcycle has developed an oil leak from said assembly, and has been slowly leaking for the last 10,000+ miles. If the oil level drops low enough, I fear the rear wheel could lock while riding, resulting in a crash. *trOwner report · Wheels · Feb 2010
Fuel gauge displaying 1/2 tank of fuel when tank was actually empty. Motorcycle ran out of fuel on busy freeway with limited shoulder access. Was almost hit by numerous cars getting to a safe place. Fuel level strip has been replaced twice and is again not working. This is very common on these motorcycles, and dangerous as you never know when you will be out of gas. *trOwner report · Fuel System, Gasoline · Jun 2008
