Upon starting the motorcycle the "normal" checklist was replaced with "brake failure". Dealer tested the ABS unit and indeed it failed. Used this motorcycle in a very limited capacity due to limited braking. Dealer stated the unit was not covered under warranty or recall. In researching this problem I have found it is a common issue with this unit. Replaced the ABS unit thru dealer 4/15. I feel this should be addressed thru this agency as it is definitely a manufacturing/programming problem that then becomes a safety issue. *trOwner report · Service Brakes · Jul 2014
ABS failed. On freeway. No warning. Less then 36k miles. This turns out is common problem with bmw. Fuel pump mounting boss for fuel line connection cracked. Fuel sprays onto back of engine and flows on to the exhaust system, I saw smoke coming from under bike when stopped at end of driveway. Saw fuel running down the side of the engine on to the exhaust. The motorcycle was not fully warm, it had been running only 1-2 minutes. Based on the flow of leaking fuel, the motorcycle would have caught fire when the engine and exhaust reached normally operating temperature. This failure has been documented at k-bikes.com and I-bmw.com and on this complaint site. *trOwner report · Fuel/Propulsion System · Aug 2013

This motorcycle has repeatedly stalled as I decelerate to a stop. The day of this report it stalled 5 times. The dealer has not been able to determine why this happens after several inspections by the dealer. The motorcycle restarts immediately but it is a safety issue since braking and traffic flow problems are created by this stalling. This issue has been recurring for the year I have owned this vehicle. *trOwner report · Engine · May 2012
