S-awc pump has a corrodible housing and is placed in an area that is exposed to salt and water from the rear passenger-side wheel. The placement of the pump is a design flaw and has led to severe corrosion of the pump housing and failure of the pump. The failure of the pump completely disables both the active center differential and the active yaw control systems, both of which are intended to assist the driver in controlling the car under adverse handling situations.Owner report · Power Train · Oct 2018
Takata recall since I bought the car the acd pump has been fine. Back in september the red triangle came on and I did some research to find out what it meant. I barley drive the car because of the issue. It seems several other people have had this problem too. Mitsubishi wants to charge me $800-$1200 to fix it. I refuse to pay this amount after seeing everyone else has this same issue.Owner report · Power Train · Sep 2016
I was driving to work and the car started acting strange. It would only switch to select gears. I took it straight to a mitsubishi service where they informed me that transmission was failing. Then they told me it would cost $12000 to repair. They also said the car needs a new awd differential pump but that would be free. Upon my research and what one of the techs told me awd pump can screw up the transmission. How can they not cover the cost of repair for transmission if a faulty part caused it.Owner report · Unknown Or Other · Jul 2016

As I was driving my car it began to jerk I pulled over and shut the car off when I started it again the awc light came on and was not functioning after when pulling off I noticed the car did not want to shift gears unless in manual for so the sst had failed on meOwner report · Unknown Or Other · Jun 2015
4wd service required light popped up immediately when accelerating. Acd pump may have failed. Mitsubishi does not cover this as it is not "part of the drivetrain". Can be dangerous when pump goes out. *trOwner report · Power Train · Nov 2014
Tl* the contact owns a 2009 mitsubishi lancer ralliart. The contact received a notification for NHTSA campaign id number: 14v562000 (engine) and stated that the part was not available. The dealer gave a specific date for when the part would become available which was unreasonable. The manufacturer was contacted but the contact was not able to speak to a representative to determine estimated date for when the contacts vehicle would receive the recall repair. The contact did not experience a failure.Owner report · Engine · Oct 2014
I stopped at a light, the when I went to make a left turn my dash began to flash a "service required" light at me. After doing some investigation, it turns out that it is an extremely well known and unaddressed issue with the car's acd pump failing. It's a design flaw that costs thousands of dollars to fix, but failure of the part is practically guaranteed. Why there's no recall yet is completely ridiculous. *trOwner report · Power Train · May 2014
As I was driving home from work I got a service required on screen, shut my car off it went away. Next day driving to work same thing. It consistently comes on well driving and goes away on start up. Had an alignment done, balanced all tires and no change. Shop informed me of a code c161e. Acd pump failure. Mitsubishi stated as its over 60k miles I have no power-train coverage and a new pump and replacement was around $2000. Kinda strange a part that seems to have so many issues all over the us and canada the can't do a recall? *trOwner report · Power Train · May 2014
I was pulling out of a parking spot and my awc light came on. I took it to the dealer and they told me that there was nothing wrong with my awd pump. I had to pay a $45.00 diagnostic fee for them to look at it. I am worried that the pump will eventually fail completely and I will out of luck. I know that the pump goes bad on these cars, as I have read a ton of different complaints about their ralliart/evo having the same issue. *trOwner report · Power Train · Apr 2014
Awc pump failed after about 20,000 miles in the car. Problem seems to be very common for the evo x and realliart models 2008 and after. Car does not handle well with this setting and is not safe to drive in the winter because can't set to snow mode. Cost to replace is around $2k and mitsu keeps stating this is not covered by powertrain warranty and is a maintenance item. Never heard of a $2k maintenance items. There are numerous reports that state the cause of this is the wrong type of oil used and the fact that the part is not made of durable material causing rust and failure. Seems to be a design flaw. Please help. *trOwner report · Equipment Adaptive/Mobility · Mar 2014
