Accelerated rigid brake line corrosion resulted in brake line failure and complete loss of vehicle stopping ability. Brake lines are inspected regularly and did not appear rusted. Vehicle was in motion traveling at approximately 20 mph when operator stepped on brake to slow and stop vehicle. Brake pedal felt soft and then pressed completely to floor without any braking action. Operator used emergency brake to slow and stop vehicle. Vehicle required immediate towing as it was not road worthy and was unsafe to drive without braking ability.Owner report · Service Brakes · Feb 2017

2001 yukon xl ABS control module total failure at 49k miles. This is a common problem that is well known and documented. Total failure of the ABS system is a serious safety issue. Gm continues to charge approximately $2000 to temporarily "fix" this problem by replacing the ABS control module, only to have it fail again after another 20-40k miles. The problem has fostered a cottage industry providing ABS control modules with superior components for 1/10th gm price. It is obvious gm is fully aware there is a serious defect in the kelsey/hayes ABS control module due to inferior design and component selection, but so far refuses to acknowledge responsibilities or provide reliable repair. *trOwner report · Service Brakes, Hydraulic · Jun 2009
Engine stalls while driving. Intermittently. And engine won't re-start without numerous tries. The problem is getting worse and worse. Stalling 3 or times a day, without warning. *trOwner report · Engine And Engine Cooling · Jun 2008

Dt*: the contact stated the vehicle stalled without warning at speeds between 10-20 mph. The vehicle restarted each time. The vehicle had not been inspected by the dealership.Owner report · Engine And Engine Cooling · Nov 2006
My 2001 xl 2500 has had periodic problems starting and stalling at different times. The starting problem happens about 2 times as often as the stalling problem. They do not happen at the same time. Usually, if it doesn't fire right up you have to wait about twenty seconds and try again. It usually starts the second or third time. The stalling problem is less detectable. It has happened about 4 times total. Each time I was fortunate to be going under 30 miles per hour and able to compensate for the loss of power. I did not purchase this vehicle as new and do not know if prior owner experienced any problems. It had 30,000 miles on it when I purchased it in jan. 2002. *nmOwner report · Electrical System · Aug 2006
Tl*the contact owns a 2001 gmc yukon xl 2500. While driving 35 mph, the vehicle suddenly stalled and lost power steering. The contact attempted to restart the vehicle, but it took a few minutes. He drove the vehicle to the dealer and they replaced the crankshaft position sensor and there had been no further occurrences. After the repair, he discovered the recall for the same defect for the yukon, but not for the yukon xl, even though it had the same motor. He called the manufacturer and they stated that the VIN was not included in the recall, although the contact feels that it should be included. The recall number was unknown. The failure mileage was 82,000.Owner report · Engine And Engine Cooling · May 2006
Tl*the contact owns a 2001 gmc yukon xl 2500. The contact stated that the pin box for the trailer hitch is supposed to be horizontal, but it is slightly bent. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who stated that the pin box was bending/deforming. The hitch was replaced at 14,800 miles. The pin box is currently bending again. The trailer hitch is used six times per year to tow a trailer. The current mileage is 27,353 and failure mileage was 15,600.Owner report · Trailer Hitches · Jul 2003
