“The fuel tank delanminates from the inside, allowing paint chips to flow into the pump and injectors, causing the vehical to suddenly die out on the highway”Owner report · Fuel/Propulsion System · Mar 2018
“My lcf dump truck began idling a bit irradically. Driving the truck at about 40 mph it began to sputter and lose power, until the engine turned off completely leaving me stranded on the road. I opened up the primary fuel filter and found it to be caked with a silver metallic material. I put in a new filter and was able to get the truck home, but the engine was not running as it should. I researched the issue online and found a lot of diesel ford truck owners were experiencing the same problem, and it was because the fuel tanks were delaminating and getting sucked through the fuel system.”Owner report · Fuel/Propulsion System · Feb 2016
“On multiple occasions the driver has noticed a slowing down(bogging) of the engine and moved to the side of the road. The vehicle has not shutoff, that I know of, but the driver is wary of operating the truck, due to bogging issue. *tr”Owner report · Fuel System, Diesel · Jun 2014

“The driver is onthe road, truck engine bogs, then dies.he managed to get it off the road, let sit for a few minutes, then the truck restarted and ra for a little while longer, then the same scenario, several more times before he managed to get it to the shop. I pulled both fuel filters and found the on-frame filter plugged with a scaly, whitish-silver crystalline film. I replaced both filters, now, a few thousand miles on the new filters, it is doing it again and I am replacing the filters again. *tr”Owner report · Fuel System, Diesel · May 2014
“I have 2 lcf's. Both the fuel tanks are failing because of diesel additives. I have replaced one already which cost me $1700, now I have to replace the other. *tr”Owner report · Fuel/Propulsion System · Apr 2014
“Our 2006 ford lcf runs very rough, and stalls while moving. Ford dealership said the fuel tank is delaminating inside, causing the fuel injectors to fail. Apparently this has been going on for the last couple of years. We've replaced several fuel injectors over that time. The cost to fix this (from ford) is 5,000.00. New tank, fuel lines, all new injectors. In researching this issue, I found that this is becoming common for the ford 2006 ford lcf. I have very good maintanance records and only use fuel from one source. Since 2009 I have spent 14,000.00 on repairing this ford lcf, mostly fuel issues. *tr”Owner report · Fuel/Propulsion System · Mar 2013

“I have 7 of these trucks and 5 delaminated fuel tanks at $1,600.00 each to replace. This is an obvious problem and ford is not accepting responsibility. *tr”Owner report · Fuel System, Gasoline · Dec 2010
“Our ford lcf450 was lacking power and was idling rough. We took it in to our local dealer and they stated that the fuel tank was delaminating which clogged the fuel lines. They said we needed to replace the fuel tank, fuel pump and fuel filters. The dealership said that this was caused by putting in diesel fuel that had trace amounts of biofuel. *tr”Owner report · Fuel System, Diesel · Nov 2010
