After completing a turn onto city street it just quit as if you hit the kill switch. I was 3 miles from home and it did this again twice before I reached home. It failed to start again at the gated entrance. At this point when I tried to restart it had lost all compression. Clear to me that the recall on that issue was the problem. I pushed it the rest of the way home.Owner report · Structure · Nov 2016
Vehicle stalls at low speeds. Will surge at low speeds. Will stall out when doing less than 15 mph or giving no throttle. Will stall when vehicle is stopped for traffic or parking it. Has been to the dealer twice for repairs with negative results. They claim it's a computer issue. They fail to repair it. Bike stalling at low speed and without warning. Was in slow moving traffic and went to accelerate and bike stalled. In order to restart, need to apply brake and start. Truck behind almost rear ended me as I was restarting. The bike has stalled several times in the past 3 days, all at low speed and coasting. *trOwner report · Engine · Nov 2014
Has happen a number of times where the engine stalls while reducing rpms. Concerned if on highway and engine stops. *trOwner report · Engine · Jul 2014
The scooter is stalling during low-throttle or idle situations such as stoplights and slow-speed maneuvers, slow speed turns etc. The issue is documented in a few online articles. Engine stopped running. No other functionality was affected. Had to coast to a stop to restart. This happened twice in the first 5 miles of riding, and in good weather. Rode 10 miles altogether. *trOwner report · Engine · Apr 2014
@ 1050 miles: the scooter started stalling at low speeds in stop and go traffic. I can never predict when it is going to happen. It did it once while I was making a right hand turn and the car behind barley missed hitting me." you must apply the brake to restart, slowing you way down or stopping you {dangerous}, it has always restarted without a problem. The first chance I had I took it to the bmw service center 2/28/14 about a week after it started, it is still there. They said it hadn't done it for them I told them to keep it and ride it again. This has happened on different tanks of gas and I always use premium bp so far. *trOwner report · Engine · Feb 2014
Bike stalls suddenly and completely at low speeds and in low speed turns. Loss of power and stability if it happens at turns. Stranded in intersections if stalling occurs stops with high risk of sideway collision. Cannot restart bike without engaging brake at a full stop. Problem repeats after first servicing. *trOwner report · Steering · Sep 2013
Fuel gauge and related mpg read outs have not worked since the purchase of the brand new bike. The replacement of the tank sensor did not fix the problem. Nine subsequent contacts made to bmw with no follow through by them to fix this safety issue. I understand that bmw has an internal service bulletin on the problem. *jsOwner report · Fuel/Propulsion System · Aug 2013
